The Final Inspection

This is a post from my Auntie and I just had to share it with all my blog friends...hope you enjoy it.

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier,How shall I deal with you ?Have you always turned the other cheek ?To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,"No, Lord, I guess... I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just ...too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you soldier,You've borne your burdens well.Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,You've done your time in Hell."

Remembrance Day ~ Lest We Forget

Remembrance Day.November 11th, every single year. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
The first Remembrance Day was observed in 1919 throughout the countries of the British Commonwealth. Originally called Armistice Day, this day commemorated the end of the First World War on Monday, November 11, 1918, at 11 a.m. ~ the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. That is what it is.
Here's why it is...Historically speaking, Remembrance Day is a day that "Canadians pause in a silent moment of remembrance for the men and women who have served, and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace.
We honour those who fought for Canada in
~ the First World War (1914-1918)
~ the Second World War (1939-1945)
~ the Korean War (1950-1953)
Also, we remember those who have served since then. More than 1,500,000 Canadians have served our country in this way, and more than 100,000 have died. They gave their lives and their futures so that we may live in peace."
In Flanders Fields
by John McCrae, May 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

What Cancer Can't Do!!

WHAT CANCER CAN'T DO
It cannot cripple love,
it cannot shatter hope,
it cannot corrode faith,
it cannot eat away peace,
it cannot destroy confidence,
it cannot kill friendship,
it cannot shut out the memories,
it cannot silence courage,
it cannot invade the soul,
it cannot reduce eternal life.
it cannot quench the Spirit.
Our greatest enemy is not disease, but despair.
Fear not!
Be cheerful, and know that people care.
My Auntie Kelley had this posted on her facebook page and I had to share it with all of you. We recently found out that my Grandma has lung cancer and my Auntie Janice has a very rare cancer that they do not know much about. We have had many people in our lives that have had cancer, some concur it but some are unable to win the battle. This is for everyone that has known or knows someone with cancer.
