Look Who Is 3 Months Old!!!

WOW 3 Months old already!! How time flies by!!!

At 3 months old Meme is:

75% for weight....14lbs!!! (If you are thinking she was just 12lb 14oz 2 weeks ago you are right!!) I asked the doctor to double check the weight because Mommy was in shock. LOL

90% for height...62cm!!

40cm for your head.

You have more than doubled your birth weight now!! WOW!!! Great job Meme!!

You absolutely HATE HATE HATE tummy time now. :( You used to LOVE it. But now you even get mad if we put you on our chest to burp you.

You DO NOT like laying down at all!!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE your big brother!! Sometimes I have to get Tornado to go away when you are eating because all you will do is smile and talk to him. It is so sweet to watch you little face light up everytime you see Tornado!!

You still have your acid reflex and spit up in a nightmare...I know I know everyone wonders how the heck can it be a nightmare with how chubby you are...BUT it really is!! There are times I am so worried you have spit up all of your bottle. Those are the times I have to remind myself that you are a chubby little thing and will be just fine. :)

You are so aware of things now. You LOVE the toys on your swing and are always grabbing at them and moving them around. You startle yourself at times because of the nose they make. LOL

Overall you are a pretty happy baby who LOVES to smile and talk!!

Meme's 2 Month Update

WOW!!! You started off sooo very small...

BUT it did not take you long to sprout!!

At 2 months old you are 12lbs 14oz and 22.6 inches long with a head of 39.2 cm!!

overall PERFECT!! (really I can not remember what the overall was. lol)

SO here it is I have a tubby short baby girl called Meme!!

All ready for summer to arrive!!!

What Has Meme Been Up To!! (5wk-11wk Update)

~ Doctors, doctors, doctors!!! That is what we have been up to during her 5th week!!

We were there on Wednesday because she had not pooped since Saturday!! As soon as Dr.Cindy came into the room she pooped. Go figure right!! So, not much was done that day because we thought she had it all under control. (Dr.Cindy told me to give her 1/4tsp of brown sugar with 4oz of her formula if it happened again BUT only once and only if needed.)

Thursday we went to doctors once again...this time it was for acid reflex. After CanadianMama seen Meme she advised me that it was all the signs of acid reflex. Thank goodness she did!! Meme was doing SOOO much better after only having 3 doses of the baby zantac!! Thank you CanadianMama!!

Than we ended up back at the doctors Saturday because well Meme did not poop since Wednesday!! Guess what the little bugger did!!??!! Yep that is right she pooped the second the doctor came in the room. Well this time the doctor gave her some medicine to help her little tummy adjust to the formula. (She never needed to take the medicine!! Just worked it out on her own!!!)

~Not much has happened in the 6th week. LOTS of play dates for your big brother, which all of us are really enjoying!! At the play dates you did get to meet Rae/Syetha and Joy/her son and Trenna/her daughter and J/Mouse/K!!

~WELL I thought I was finally free of doctors for a WHOLE week!!! But I was sadly mistaken. We ended up at the walk-in clinic AGAIN!! On the bright side it was with Dr.Van again, I find he is a really good doctor!! We went this Saturday because you were having such a hard time with gas and I was very unsure if I should switch your formula. I did not want to make it hard for you to have a bowel movement again because you just got regular. In the end he advised that we change SO we have switched from Similac to Good Start.

~This week(week 6) you decided it would be fun to poop on Mommy!! You also decided to have a poop that went ALL up your tummy, ALL up your back and ALL down your legs!!! It was the biggest poop EVER!! How does such a little girl hold that much?!?!?!

~Monday we ended up at our family doctor. You spit up SOOO much when sleeping it gags you and scares the crap out of Mom and Dad. End result you have been switched formulas AGAIN!! This time we are trying Enfamil Gentlease!! I am keeping my fingers crossed that this works!!

It has been a week and a half on the Enfamil and WOW!!! It seems to working very well. *knock on wood*

Some how I lost track of what happened what week so now it is all just bullet list...

What I do know is that it did for sure happen when you were 5 weeks to 11 weeks old!! LOL

~Hates tummy time now...used to love it. I can not even put you on your tummy on my chest...oh how you scream when we do that.

~Success!!! April 8th or so started sleeping from 11pm-600/630am. You eat at about 10/1030pm, than asleep by 11pm!! This all started when you started on the Biogia drops!!

~Meme LOVES baths!!! Tornado still LOVES telling her stories well I am bathing her. It is too cute for words.

~You LOVE your mobile!! You have daily talks with it!! BUT everytime I pull out the video camera to capture it...you stop!! Even if you can not see me!!

~You Hate the taste of your own hands. I can wipe them down and still you HATE the taste of them. The face you make is priceless!! I will try to capture a picture of that too.

~SMILES oh SMILES!! You LOVE giving out smiles!! You have the greatest smile!! It can light up your day no matter how horrible it has been.

~On Biogia drops now too. They are expensive BUT AMAZING!!! So in the end because they work so well they are not expensive...so worth the money spent!! Anyone having issues with a fussy/gassy baby try these drops!!!

~I an still scared to let you sleep alone in your crib, so you sleep in your bouncer chair and you just love it!!

Meme's One Month Update

WOW it has already been 1 month since I gave birth to our baby girl!! Time sure does fly by!!

Here is what has been going on the past month with Meme:

Weight ~ 8lbs 12oz

Length ~ 22 inches

Head ~ 36

~Breast feeding has been a challenge with you. You latch really well but than fall asleep and refuse to suck/eat!! I have pumped for the past month and than bottle fed the EBM to you. I stopped dairy, onion, garlic, spicy food and tomatoes for 2 weeks because it gave you really bad gas!! (or so I thought)

~I am sad to say that Momma gave up pumping on your 1 month mark. It was really wearing me down, you still had super bad gas, it was hurting me so much when I pumped tears were in my eyes. (it felt like someone was stabbing me with a knife in both breasts!!)

This was such a hard decision to make and it had me torn apart for days before I finally made the final decision. I wish I was stronger and was able to continue pumping and feeding you. I'm sorry baby girl that Momma was a quitter on this issue.

When you have a 4.5 year old boy and a new baby it is so very hard to pump, feed baby and keep up with the house work well trying to give the older child the correct attention. I could go on with more reasoning's but I will not because it is done now and there is no going back.

*There will be an update on how it is going since we have switched to formula*

~We ended up switching bottles for you. The ones we had that mimicked the breast were too big for you and you could not get good suction. (This was another attempt to cut the gas that you kept having.) Once we switched to a smaller nipple it was like night and day!! You stopped gagging on the milk, you stopped chocking on it and you ate so much better!!! But the gas did not go away.

~Mom and Dad were sitting talking about how chubby you have gotten and out of your tiny little mouth came a giggle!! It was perfect timing and if we both were not here I am sure we would not have believed each other that it actually happened. It was so super cute!!!

~You just LOVE being held so you are laying on your belly!! It is the best position for you when you are cranky and just need to relax!!

~You LOVE your baths and often fall asleep well having one!! BUT you are soon awaken when you are being taken out, OH how you HATE getting out of the bath!!

~We have tried Kolic and Ovol for your gas BUT it seems to do no good.

~Just recently you have discovered the mobile on your swing!! You LOVE watching it and making a 'O' with your mouth as it moves!!

~I found out the hard way that you are allergic to Penaten cream. I was putting it on your little bum to protect it from getting a rash BUT in the end the cream made you little bum bleed. :( We quickly changed to another brand and it cleared right up!!

~As of 1 month old your Daddy had yet to change your bum, get you dressed OR feed you!! BUT he does snuggle with you at night because if he does not you get very cranky!!

At one month old you are so very loved and have completed our family!! Your big brother, Tornado, just loves you to pieces and will not leave you alone. He makes sure you always have what you need, except sleep when he decides it is time to play

Week 4 Picture Update

I know today she is 5 weeks old and I have yet to post her One month update and 5 Week Picture and the list goes on!! I promise to all of you who visit my blog that I will get caught up!! I have SOOOO much to blog about I just need to find the time of day to do it!!

My Life This Week

WOW I can not believe it has already been 2 weeks!!! How time flies by!!!

Here is what has been going on in my life this week:

~On the weekend we ventured out to Chuck E Cheese. Tornado had a blast!! Him and Dad buzzed around well I sat at our table with Meme. (We really need to get a universal stroller carrier so I can walk around too) We were there for about 2 hours!!

Well we were there I had to change Meme...no biggie right?!?! Well that is what I thought too. I grab all the stuff needed for the bum change and make my way to the washroom. Clean off the change table, it appears I have become a germ freak since Meme was born. Than proceed to change her bum. Get her diaper off and than BAM it happens...

Meme sprays her poop all over the bathroom stall wall!!!

OMG!!!

To make matters worse there is not garbage can in the stall...

the toilet paper sucks...

I have no extra hands and no way clean it up well attending to Meme...

at this point I wish I had my phone to message Hubby to come and get Meme so I can clean it up!!!

I did manage to get it all clean BUT it took awhile. I was not about to leave that mess for anyone else to walk in and find. It was gross and messy!!

When I got back to the table Hubby says that took awhile...

I say 'YEP' and tell him what happened.

He had nerve to ask me if I cleaned it up!!

~After we left Chuck E Cheese we ventured on over to Zellers. We were on a mission to buy Meme new sleepers BUT they did not have a very big selection. In the end we got a baby bath and a bouncer chair. (Little Einstein Bouncer chair for $35.00!!)

~That night Tornado came down with a fever of 103.6, not sure on the point part but it was high!! The panic set in!! I did not want Meme getting sick...but I did not want Tornado to feel like I was banishing him.

It was so very hard on him not to hug, kiss or hold Meme!! He loves her so much and just wanted to show her.

~Meme's umbilical cord fell off!!!

Well this sums up my Saturday!!!

We will skip right to Monday

~ We went to sleep Sunday night with very little snow...

and woke up to winter wonderland!!!

Apparently we are in winter storm warning!!

~Meme gave me a scare today. I thought she was getting sick because her temperature was 37.3 and well for this little girl that is high. She is usually around 36.6!! But after monitoring her for the morning I came to the conclusion that we were just fine.

~I kept Tornado home from school today because he had the fever all weekend long, nothing else to go along with it, but non the less he still had the fever. I would hate to send him and than he gets other children sick.

My hubby did not understand why I kept him home. He said 'Like any other parents would keep their kid home if they had a fever the day before.' He is absolutely right!!!

BUT...

I just couldn't send him knowing there could be something wrong and take the chance of making others sick!!

That wraps up Monday!!

WOW we are already to Tuesday:

~ Went to the doctors in the morning. The wait was NUTS!! We were there for 2.5 hours!! YUCK!!!

In the end it turns out Tornado has an ear infection, we guessed this!! Did you know ear infections were contagious??? I surely did not!!

Meme is doing GREAT!!! She is now 6lbs 8oz and 20 inches long!! I no longer have to wake her to feed!! She does have some yellow discharge coming from her eyes SO Dr. Cindy-Anne did a swab just to be sure it is nothing.

~ I decided on Friday I would let her go 4 hours at night instead of 3 hours...do you think she would go the 4 hours?!?! NOPE!! She woke up every 3 hours!!! Go figure!! LOL

~ Tornado is doing really really good with his listening skills!!! His school even pointed it out.

*now watch I have just jinxed myself*

~ One day this week I actually left Meme with Dad well I ran to Wal-mart!! This is a BIG step for me...I did not leave Tornado until my 6 week check up and that was just because he could not come with me to that appointment.

~My hubby is still helping out around the house and it is GREAT!!! This is a BIG thing for him because usually it is me doing all the house work. Thanks Babe I really appreciate it!!

One Week Old!!

One Week Picture with Big Brother Tornado!!

This is how Meme's first week went:

Day 1 ~ We are working on training Meme how to use her tongue properly well eating. She latches good BUT curls her tongue so can not suck properly.

~ They checked her skin for jaundice and it was well below the line. :)

~We got to go home at 830pm that night!!

~Grandma and Papy came to visit you when you got home.

Day 2 ~ The health nurse came, BOO! She had issues getting your temperature correct, we did not know this at the time BUT now we sure do. (this is another post all on its own!!)

~ We went out and exchanged your car seat!! You like your new one now!! :)

~Today we are giving you EBM and Similac, trying to teach you how to use your tongue.

Day 3 ~ BRRRR We are in a winter storm warning!!! It is crappy roads!! Crappy weather!!! Crappy Wind Chill!!! This storm has prevented family members coming to visit from Red Deer.

~ Had to go to the Health nurse office to see if they could help out with breastfeeding. They checked your jaundice and it had gone up. They took your temperature again and SURPRISE they said it was LOW!! But yet it was just fine all night long. (like I said another post all on its own!!) They ended up sending us to the Children's Hospital.

~ Got to the hospital and SURPRISE Meme's temperature was just fine. She had to have a thermometer stuck up her butt for NOTHING!!! We had to drive all the way in the shitty road conditions, sorry for the language.

~ FINALLY got home and just relaxed for the rest of the night.

Day 4 ~ BACK to the health nurse AGAIN!!! Guess what?!?! Yep you guessed it...they said her temperature was low AGAIN!! This time I brought our thermometer and it was just fine with ours!! BUT that was not good enough for the nurse. GAH!! Why is it that they are the ONLY ones that get a low temperature with my child?!?!?!?!? SO FRUSTRATING!!!!! Back on track on: Checked her jaundice level and it had jumped right into the red zone by LOTS. Meme was very sleepy and did not want to eat, which is weird for her because the past days she has LOVED her food, yes I had to wake her to feed but she still gulped it down. The nurse poked her foot to take her blood for the jaundice test and Meme didn't even cry or flinch. It was scary at how unresponsive she was.

~ So off to the hospital we go again. This time we just went to the PLC because if she needed the lights the Children's would have sent us back to the PLC, so we eliminated the step. We got in really fast. Again her temperature was just fine there, but yet the health nurse said it was low...like WTH?!?!?!?

~The blood work came back and her belirubin levels were high, so she would be going in for the light treatment. Than he doctor gave me a scare because they said it could also be meningitis. They are concerned about this because I was GBS positive!! The thoughts that were running through my mind.

~FIRST things first they take blood from Meme, well at least they try. The first tech. that came in to get her blood was looking like he had no idea what he was doing. So I asked him 'Have you done this before?' He replies 'On child 3 and older but NEVER on a baby.' After the news of meningitis I was not about to let my baby be a guinea pig, I know we all have to learn but not today on my little girl. I respond 'I'm sorry and I don't want to be rude but I am not comfortable with you doing this than.' Thank goodness he understood. After that conversation the doctor came in and I told her about what had just happened and she was like 'NO! He will NOT be taking her blood.' They tried to get her blood in the ER but had no success. It was so heart breaking watching them stick the needles in her arms to find a vain. She screamed so loud and it made me cry. I never want to see that again. They gave up and took us upstairs.

~We got into our room and settled down. Our nurse was Anna and she was just AMAZING!!!Than Dad and Tornado headed home. I must add that Tornado was such a trooper these past days, Mom felt very bad for him because how fun can this be for him. They than came and got her to get blood. They had her for a VERY long time!! Brought her back and still had no success. My poor baby girl had gotten poked so many times it broke my heart to hear they had her for SO long and yet still had to come back for her to poke her more. In the end they got the nurse in the NICU to do it. She had her for less than 5 minutes and was done.

~Got blood work back and the CBC came back abnormal. My heart just sunk into the ground. This meant that she would need a spinal tap. BUT wait the doctor says we think it may have been abnormal because the blood was clotted. SO, Meme got poked again and off went her blood to get retested. That was the longest 2 hours of my life...BUT it came back normal!!! Thank God!!! The relief that came over me.

Day 5 ~ Got poked again to get blood to make sure the belirubins had gone down. YES!! It had!!!

~FINALLY got the urine sample, the nurse had to bag her.

~ We were able to go home that afternoon!! Meme was eating well and her temperature stayed put. (I must add Anna and I tag teamed all night long with our thermometers and SURPRISE we always matched.)

~ Got home and just relaxed!!

Day 6 ~ Dad took today off, thank goodness. We all needed just one stress free day!!

Day 7 ~ YIKES I am on my own and it is preschool day!!!

~Tornado slept in...Meme woke up at 830 to eat, same time as Tornado. Have to be out of the house for 9am to get to school in time. It was a marathon but we made it!!

~Tornado LOVED showing off his little sister when I went to pick him up. The adults were allowed to look at her BUT when the other kids looked at Meme he would step in front of the car seat and say 'Don't look at my sister.'

~Went to the doctors for her One week check up!! I can not believe she is already one week old!!! She weighs 6lb 4oz now...we have passed our birth weight!! Her jaundice is looking good!! Over all Dr. Cindy-Anne is really happy with her!!!

~Big brother is still LOVING his little sister.

~Mom is still giving you EBM, it is not getting better it is now getting worse, but no longer on formula!! I have decided if I just have to pump and than bottle feed so be it!! She will still get breast milk either way.

~You have almost outgrown the newborn sleepers. So this weekend I we get to go shopping.

You all might say WOW what a roller coaster ride...

YES it sure was!!!

BUT...

I can truly say I am doing really good and I am enjoying being home now and having all this precious time with my family of 4 now!!
