Tornado In The Month Of Feb. 2011

What Has Tornado Been Doing This Past Month!!

~ First things first you became a big brother!!! You are an AMAZING big brother!! You drive Mom nuts more than anything because you NEVER leave your little sister Meme alone. LOL You need to be everywhere she is. You need to be giving her hugs and kisses all the time. You just LOVE her to pieces!!

~ All the time we get 'Unbelievable' from you!! Everything is UNBELIEVABLE!! LOL

~You have learnt the oh so famous song: Missed me missed me now you gotta kiss me!!! I am sure you learnt it from school but not 100% sure.

~You have been trying so very hard to wink this month!! You have one eye open and one eye shut so far...now to work on the winking part.

~You amaze Mom and Dad everyday with how well you can operate your computer now. You get around netflex all by yourself and find all the shows you like!!

~You and Dad have a special date every weekend!! You get to pick a place to go for lunch and it is just son and dad time. You look forward to this day all week long!!

~Another one of your favorite sayings this month: 'I can live with that.' and 'Piece of cake.'

~Right after Meme came home you got and ear infection accompanied by a really high fever. That was a really hard week for you because you could not cuddle your sister or give her kisses. But we got over it and you surely made up for it. :)

~Every night after I bath Meme you seem to think the bath water is yours. LOL You undress in record time and hop right into the water!!

~You had your follow up appointment with the eye doctor to get the drops in your eyes and you did AMAZING!! Everything in the end was all good. :)

~When you have a bath you really think you are helping me out by cleaning the walls and tub with your bubbles!! LOL

~You have actually gotten better at eating this month and trying new things. You have ate a hamburger with your Dad. You have eaten ground hamburger dishes, not a whole lot and you still complain like mad but none the less you still try it. You now LOVE steak and roast beef!!

I think that about wraps up our monthly update!!

You gave us many laughs this month and have grown so much!!

Mom and Dad love you to pieces and we can not wait to see what the next month brings us!!

What A Son I Have!!!

Here is what is going on at my house with Tornado:
  1. Tornado received board games for Christmas and well this opened our eyes...Tornado needs to know how to lose!! He gets so very upset of he loses and goes yelling and stomping off to his room followed by a slam of his door. He also needs to work on keeping the number/colour that appears on the dice after he has rolled. If it is not the right number or colour he tries to re-roll and when he is told he can not do that the yelling and stomping off to his room followed by a slam of his door occurs again.
  2. After having Dad home for 7 days over the holidays Tornado was very sad to see him return to work. Tornado was not even excited about returning to school. Now to my point...we get home from school, his first day back, and the phone rings...it is Dad. I go to answer the phone and Tornado comes running for the phone saying "Dad doesn't want to talk to you, he is calling me because he ONLY misses me." they finish up their conversation and Tornado goes to hang up the phone. I ask if I could please have the phone. Tornado replies "NO! Dad just called me!! He doesn't want to talk to you."
  3. Dad and Tornado are looking at the Carhart site and he comes running over to me yelling "Mom come here QUICK you have to see this!!!" I go over and he is so excited that they have Carhart product for woman too. He really wanted me to some BUT I explained to him that we had to wait until Baby was born and why. Our son just LOVES carhart!!!
  4. Dad and Tornado are sitting on the couch and Tornado says he needs something. So Dad asks 'What?' Tornado replies 'I need this ball that if you throw it it comes right back to you. It comes right back to you because of gravity. If you throw it up gravity brings it right back to your hand!! If you throw it left gravity makes it come right back to your hand!! If you throw it right gravity makes it come right back to your hand!!' Dad and I chuckle as we try to hold in the laughter. It was so very cute to listen to though and to see how proud he was to share this info. with us!!
  5. Everything to Tornado is UNBELIEVABLE!!!
  6. Tornado wants to use my chapstick, Carmex, and I tell him to use his Toy Story Chapstick he got from Santa. He comes up to me a little bit after he used his and says 'Mom I need to use your chapstick because mine didn't work. I need yours because it is professional." LOL who knew chapstick could be professional!!!
  7. There is a first for everything ~ January 15 2011: My hubby goes into the living room to find Tornado hiding under the living room table. That spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E right there!! He calls me into the living room and all I hear is 'Tornado come out of there.' my heart sinks thinking something terrible has happened. When he comes out from under the table this is what we find: Tornado got gum all stuck in his hair!! I had to cut it out. It was all over the back of his head...good thing he is a boy and you can not tell where I cut. He also managed to get it all over his Carhart shirt. (of course it was the most expensive shirt he has that he got it in.)
  8. I have been informed: Chocolate milk comes from brown cows and white milk comes from white cows!! I asked where strawberry milk comes from and he has no idea!!!
  9. When ever anything goes down the wrong tube well he is drinking or eating and he chokes on it Tornado says 'It went down the wrong tube...it went down the chocolate milk tube.'
  10. Tornado comes up to me and sticks up his middle finger but backwards. In shock I ask him 'Ummm what are you doing? and where did you learn that?' He replies 'Daddy.' Dad looks very shocked and I am just chuckling to myself. Dad replies 'When do you ever see me do that?' Tornado replies 'To the guy behind us when you are driving' LMFAO!!! Dad says 'Oh that is just a way of saying Hello' GREAT now my son is going to go around giving people the middle finger because he is saying Hello!!! LOL

What Happened In December!!

Here is what went on is December with Tornado
  • Tornado and Mom were out shopping one day and Tornado kept finding empty packages laying around. This really upset him!!!

Tornado "Mom we have to go find the Manager!! This is really bad!! People are stealing the stuff!!"

I reply "Yes honey it is bad to steal BUT we do not have to go find the manager. Just leave the package there and the staff will find it at the end of the day."

  • Tornado and Mom are driving to the Children's Hospital to go to Tornado's Asthma appointment.

Tornado says "MOM LOOK!! Santa's Reindeer just flew over us!!!"

Mom replies "REALLY!?!?!?! And I missed it."

Tornado says "Yep I guess so...they flew right over us!!!"

  • We are all just sitting watching T.V. one night and out of no where Tornado says "Do you remember when Grandma and Papy took me to the big movie theatre?"

Mom and Dad reply "Yep."

Tornado than says "Well I wish they would do that again. It was SUPER fun."

Mom says "Well than why don't you phone them and ask them."

Tornado gets a big grin on his face "YES!!!"

So Tornado phones them and no answer. Tornado is not very impressed that they did answer his phone call. (He expects someone to answer ALL the time when he calls, something we must work on. LOL) We wait a little bit and Tornado asks to call back. We let him and again no answer.

Tornado says "How come they are not answering me????"

Mom and Dad just giggle and say "Well sometimes people are busy. Don't worry they will call back once they get your messages."

Tornado finally, really it was not that long, gets to talk to Grandma and Papy and they say YES!!

After he went to the movie with Grandma and Papy he informed me that he liked going to the movies with them because he gets to visit a LONG time with them!!

That outing they saw "MegaMind in 3D"

  • One day when Grandma D. phoned to talk to Tornado he passes me the phone and says "Here keep her occupied I have to go pee."
  • Tornado is in the bathroom and he yells out to me "Mom don't you want to know what I am doing in the bathroom with the water running?"
  • It is 7pm and Dad has gone to make his lunch for the next day. Tornado asks if he can help. Dad tells him he has to wash his hands if he would like to help him. Tornado answers Dad with WELL I WASHED THEM THIS MORNING so they are still clean.
  • We are all playing Mario Cart on the Wii. We are taking turns picking the track and what we play. Tornado forgot the order and so we reminded him how it went. Tornado replies "I'm so embarrassed." LOL
  • One night I decide to let Tornado eat supper in his room so he can watch his show. (Yes I know we should eat at the table as a family but that just doesn't happen in my house) I go in his room to check on him and make sure he is still eating. I find my son wrapping/weaving his spaghetti noodles around his toes and than eating them!! EWE!! I wish I had thought about my camera for a photo.
  • Tornado has a root beer sucker.

I ask "What does it taste like?"

Tornado replies "ONIONS"

I think to myself YUCK!!

Tornado comes back and tells me "And this side tastes like KFC."

  • Movies that Tornado enjoys this month are Despicable Me, Toy Story 3, Tom and Jerry and well any Christmas show that passes by!!
  • Tornado thinks it is very funny to turn his butt to us and Fart. He lets out a giggle and says "HAHAHAH I farted in your face HAHAHAHA"
  • We are driving to my first doctors appointment with the OBGYN.

Tornado says "Hey this is where you got your bras from."

Now at first I did not understand the boy...so it was many what's, I'm sorry Hun I don't understand etc. Until he finally said "Mom you know the things you put on your BOOBS!!!"

I laughed so hard!! I just love how kids find different ways to tell you things. Now for the record we had never been up that way before so where he got that is where I bought my bras is beyond me.

  • This month we had to do a change in his inhaler...TWICE. The first time was because it is a lower a dose and better than the orange one. They have found studies and ACTUALLY have proof now that the orange one stunts growth. (Good thing they didn't use my son for a test subject...he is a growing machine!!)

WELL this one, the red one, made him have such bad emotions and impulses. He would have a temper tantrum over the smallest of things, like having a cup of milk vs juice. He would go to hit you but at the same time say Sorry. When you asked him why he did this he would answer because my brain told me too. He was a son I did recognize and it had me questioning myself wondering what to do. It was a horrible feeling and I never want to have to experience that again. I felt like I had failed as a Mom.

WELL on the red inhaler he got his first write up at school. They were sitting at their cubby's ready to go home and what does my son do...HE PUSHES Dustin's head into the wall!! No reason for doing so...he just did it. For the 2 weeks he was on this red inhaler he had been hitting, kicking, punching, not listening and just plan out being bad!! But that was the final straw!! He could of really hurt Dustin, thankfully it was not super hard and Dustin was OK...just shocked.

It was that day that I went home and I rattled my brain as to why our son had become a monster. The only thing that had changed in that 2 weeks was his inhaler. SO I did some research and sure enough these were side effects, not common ones but they were there. The next day I phoned the Asthma Clinic and informed them of what was going on. They put a stop to that inhaler right away!! They than faxed me a new prescription for a different inhaler.

Who knew an inhaler could do that?!?!

  • Tornado got his 4.5 needles this month too. He was scared it was going to hurt. BUT he did not cry..not even a tear!! What a big boy I have!! :) He is 40 pounds (45-50 percent) and 43 Inches (95 percent). The little bugger has grown 1/2 inch since September!!

Tornado Update For October

SO we had our roof redone, thank goodness it was the week before the snow fell and the cold weather set in!! We were not home when they finished up so we did not see what they had done. WELL those nice worker men, as Tornado calls them, re shingled his play house!! SO I made sure that my hubby sent them a nice email thanking them for the nice job they had done!! (he had the info not me or I would have emailed them.) It really made Tornado's day!!

Tornado says "WOW!! That was very nice of those worker men to do my play house roof too!! Now I don't have to worry about it leaking for YEARS!!!"

So we all know this picture as a Motorbike or a Motorcycle...not Tornado!! He calls it a Motorbycle!!

We were driving along and beside us pulls up a Motorbike.

Tornado "A Motorbycle!!"

Dad "It is a motorbike or motorcycle."

Tornado "NOPE not to me Dad!! To me it is a motorbycle!!"

Oh my I laughed so hard!!

We are laying on the couch snuggling one night:

Dad says to Tornado "I love you Buddy"

Tornado replies "Thanx"
That is it that is all...nothing else was said. But you sure could hear me laughing up a storm.

One night I am giving Tornado a shower down and he has this blue foam soap in a can. I spray it all over his body.

He yells out "My penis has a MUSTACHE!!" and just cracks up.

Oh my he made me laugh so hard!!

Tornado and His Attitude

Ok so I am confused on this matter and now I have turned to my bloggy friends for help.

My son, Tornado, is 4 years old and OMG the temper on that child is unbearable at times.
Here are some things that he does:
  • Not getting his way for a t.v. show ~ gets up screams at who ever is there, throws something that is near by and than stomps off to his room yelling and screaming. He used to slam his door but I have a stopper on it now so he can not.
  • His game is not working properly or the way he wants it to ~ he throws the controller across the room.
  • He does not want to eat what we make for him ~ he yells, he pounds the couch, he runs off to his room screaming and at times yes he will throw something.
  • We say something he does not like ~ he comes up to us and tries to hit us.
  • His toy does not go his way ~ yep you guessed it all of the above but lately he thinks he can just break the toy.
  • oh the list does go on and on

Now I must add at the end of this list we do not let this slide. He does get into trouble. He does get things taken away from him. He does get time outs. But none of this seems to phase him. It does at the moment but an hour or so later we are at it again. :( Also, I must point out he does not see this around our house so I am at a lose as to where he learns it. After talking to other moms that have boys I think it is a boy thing but this boy of mine is taking it to another level.

One day this week I was at a lose for words and well that rarely happens (anyone who knows me in real life will agree with that one). Here is what happened:

He up and hit his friend because his friend was trying to help him out. Well I don't stand for anyone hitting, so into time out he went. YA RIGHT that was a battle on it's own. He was not going into a time out he was not listening he was the boss, or so he thought. I finally got him into time out, after a lot of kicking and punching and screaming. He than proceeded to throw a hard toy across the room. So off to his room he went because I am not going to have him hurt his friends. There he screamed forever, at least it felt like forever. Than he calmed down and came back out and said sorry to both me and his friend. SUCCESS is what we all think but NOPE. Than he decided him and his friends were going to play his game cube in his room. Ok no prob. I say. Well he throw his controller across the room. So out went the controllers and I told him he lost his games because he had thrown the controllers and now he could have a time out. So out to the living room go his friends. He than decided to pick up his controller for his T.V. and throw it at me, so the T.V. gets unplugged. I say ok you lose your T.V. now, we don't throw things that is bad. YEP another long battle of screaming and throwing things. He than says he is really sorry and I say ok but I still need you to go into your room and have a nap so your attitude changes. Well he was not happy with that at all...he grabs a handful of his lite bright pegs and throws them at me. OH I am so MAD right now. I tell him to get his butt back to his bed and we don't throw things!! So away goes his lite bright now. I have never had to take so many toys away from him in less than a few hours!! Why is he not getting it? What have I done wrong? How can I fix this? AHHHHH!!! It was a long battle. In the end he did change his attitude but WOW!!

Now you all may think I did it...I made it through to Tornado...not a hope in hell. He started again this morning after only being awake for a few hours. This needs to stop before he hurts himself or someone else but how? As long as things go his way or he hears what he wants it is all fine and dandy and well that is not how life is. LOL I told him he had to understand he was the kid and we are the adults and the adults are the bosses!! And please don't think my son is horrible or misbehaved all the time because he is not...but lately this anger is just getting in the way. We love him very much and I think this is why it bothers us so much.

So any parents out there that have gone through this or have advice it would be greatly appreciated. :)

OH Tornado!!

  • He is in his room playing and I call him...I call him again...and once more...he finally answers me "I can't hear you!"
  • This child of mine LOVES to learn...BUT the catch is that is has to be something he wants to do/learn. He will sit and do activities with me for hours and hours :) BUT the second it comes to learning the alphabet or numbers he is outta here. :( I am at a lose as to what to do...I have tried many different things but they just don't work :( Any ideas?
  • He has decided he is the boss. HAHAHA!!! He thinks he does not have to listen to Mom or Dad anymore. HAHAHA!!! He is a handful at times and John and I just look at each other and say "Where did we go wrong" It is a stage I know and I keep telling myself that but how long can this stage last???

How I love the Phases!!

OMG lately Tornado thinks it is totally unnecessary to listen to me. He yells at the top of his lungs right back at me...he shakes his fist at me...he does everything he knows he is not supposed to do and it is driving me NUTS!!!

I tell him ok lets go brush your teeth. He comes into the washroom no problem but than it begins he tries to hit me, but not in the belly because he doesn't want to hurt the baby, he tries to look away and he refuses to open his mouth!! I tell him if he doesn't want to go for surgery again he NEEDS to let me brush his teeth. GOOD LUCK!! I wish he was a little wimpy kid so I could hold him down and force open his mouth and brush his teeth!! LOL

You tell him to put something down he just looks at you and gives a smirk!! GRRR

You send him to his room for a time out and he comes right up to you face to face and just yells at you!! GRRR

Oh so many more things he does now a days...and I know it is just a phase but OMG!! I tell myself on a regular basis that I love my son and this will soon pass!! LOL

His latest thing is lying!! Oh how I hate it!! Lying has got to be one of the worst things!! He has lost many things because of it but still almost every day he is lying to me :( Here are some of the things he has lied about the past few days:

~he took a cheque off the island and when asked if he took it he said no. Well when we made him come help us look for it I told John to show him what it looked like and well Tornado said I don't need to see it. Than he went and got it right away from him room all crumpled up. GRRRRR

~he is eating breakfast at the table, let me add he picked it so no fight necessary you would think, well I heard a noise that sounded like the garbage bag and he came up to me and said he was all done. I asked him if he ate it or threw it in the garbage...he said I ate it all...I said ok if you are lying you will lose your games for today and that means no playing with Daddy when he gets home like you want too...he said ok go check. Sure enough there was his breakfast in the garbage can. GRRRR

I know this too will soon pass because he does not get away with it but until than OMG I just might lose the little bit of sanity I have left.

I love my son...I love my son...I love my son...I love my son...etc.
