Oh, really kind of rude but I've totally done it! Chicken has midget legs so I have to buy him a size smaller pants than tops. I've only done it for expensive things I'm buying (does that make a difference?).

like at Costco they have kids clothing sets. i cannot imagine myself switching it up there.
